Poker pearl #39

Jason Somerville was interviewed in the March issue of Bluff magazine (see scan above). He was asked about Full Tilt's RUSH poker.

"Everyone knows going into Rush Poker, that they lose (some) elements when they click to take a seat. It's no different than a live player giving up the ability to make live reads upon deciding to play online. Yes, the lack of that information waters down the skill edge and the so-called spirit of the game, but you know what you're going to get going in. I don't think Rush Poker will ever take over regular online poker just as regular online poker didn't extinguish live poker."

  1. I agree with all the points. I predict Rush is here to stay though. It eliminates the boredom factor, allows one to practice some elements of the game, and some people just like to play that way anyway. I am not one of them. Come to think of it, I rarely get bored, either. But I would use it for practice without image issues.

  2. I think Rush poker is excellent for trying new ways to play. I've played in the cheapo 5 cent/10 cent game, and have been trying some new strategies.

It won't every be something I play a lot at, but it has a place.

  3. Game up on it at the thirty eight hands business - twas the being the blinds twenty odd that got to me.

Rather like getting the Ante six or seven times in a row.
