In the May 18 issue of Card Player magazine, poker pro Robert Deppe was asked what he has done to improve his game.
I started reading a lot of hand histories from all different types of players. Many players, when they try and improve, tend to study only their own game. There's only so much you can learn when focusing on your own game. You have to see many hands from as many different types of players as possible. I try to understand why my opponents make the plays that they make, and not whether they are good or bad plays. I'm more concerned about what they were thinking in a particular situation.
Ha! In life, if I want improve I always look to others first, then reflect on my 'hand'.
ReplyDeleteSounds like good advice for just about any "sport" or "game." If I only studied my own golf game, I'd never get off the tee box! In fact, I love to watch the pros as I learn so much from them...
ReplyDeleteHope you have a great week!
Picking up nuggets here and there help to change your game in subtle ways. Maybe I need a major overhaul, though ... lol.

ReplyDeleteWhat you need to do is come and visit Ocala; buy some ice cream and then sit out under a sunny sky while you eat it!
ReplyDeleteJust thought you ought to know - this "young" Ocalan beat a golfer 20 years his junior this morning! Some of us old guys ain't dead yet! Yeah!
ReplyDeleteHi MOJO! Re your question about the triker riding an ATV: No, silly! It's not an ATV - although I'd guess it could go on a variety of terrains...I've heard, though, that these are very easy to tip over, partly because they give the impression they are more stable than a regular motorcycle, which is a false impression.
ReplyDeleteMore and more of these on the road, though.
