A bird in the hand

Above: Bluesville is the part of the Horseshoe Casino Tunica that hosts concerts. Boston and Charley Pride are coming according to the marquee.

I played in the Wednesday night tournament at the Horseshoe. There were 41 players who plunked down $110 to enter with five to get paid.

When there were seven players left, somebody suggested a chop. One person adamantly said no. Who do you think was the next person eliminated? She made a big raise. The big stack called her. The flop was 9-7-x and she moved all in, and big stack called. She turned over K 7 and big stack showed her A 9. The board bricked and she was gone. What was that all about?

Now somebody again suggested a chop. We gave big stack an extra $270 and divided the rest. Easy money.

Hey, give me credit. I avoided the One Hung Lo joke. At least up to now.

  5. Isn't it pretty much a given that the person who refuses to chop busts out early? Same thing with Veronica in my latest post. She wanted to split it 4 ways, but the guy who refused ended up being busted out by her in 3rd for for less $ than if he agreed to the chop. She ended up taking first all by herself.

  6. Refusing the chop always seems to upset the poker gods.

  7. Thank you for your nice comments. Hope you had a wonderful Easter day, also. We don't really celebrate Easter, but we had a nice time and the weather was great (for golf and running) - bright and sunny with temps in the high 60s!

    Have a great week!
