I played in the 2 p.m. mega-stack today in the Pavillion Room of the Rio with 1465 runners. Lasted for five hours, but finally had to shove when the pot odds were correct for the big blind to call. He had 9 7 and hit a 7 on the river. My fault for letting my stack get so low.

Earlier, the blinds were 600/300/50 and a guy raised to 1650 from under the gun. The dealer was distracted and didn't announce the raise. It folded to another guy who bet 1350, whoops. When it was pointed out to him that the bet was 1650 he said, "I was trying to raise." Well, duh. Why don't people learn to keep their mouth shut? Why give away information?

He called and it folded to me and I saw A A on the button. Yowsa. I didn't want to just call because the blinds might call. Also, I wanted to get heads up. My stack size was about 16,000, so I raised to 4025. On a good day, one of them would call or even shove. I hoped it would look like I was trying to make a squeeze play, especially because the moron had messed up his bet. Today was not a good day -- they both folded.

Before this hand played out, somebody tapped me on the shoulder. "Are you MOJO?" he asked. It was Rob who had tracked me down and came over to introduce himself and say hi. We had a nice, but too short, chat before we had to go back to playing poker. Any bloggers who are here in Vegas, do yourself a favor and meet up with him. His twitter ID is @robvegaspoker.

    1. Carmel, you didn't try the "flash your cleavage" trick to get out of the ticket? That trick usually works, or so I'm told.

  6. Thanks, MOJO, great meeting you as well. I want everyone to know that MOJO was wearing his cap properly until I introduced myself and he immediately switched it to backwards for my benefit!

Sorry you didn't do better in the tournament, but at least you lasted a lot longer than I did.

BTW, it was easy to identify you. You had told me what table you were out and you were the only one at the table who looked like they could qualify to play in a seniors event! I get the same thing! :)

  7. Mojo - I'll do myself a favor by NOT meeting Rob, but I'll gladly meet up with you at some point during your stay for the Tournies.

I'm hoping maybe to hit one of the deepstacks up on Sunday but not sure yet.
