WSOP update

Above: The Rio is the venue for the 2015 World Series of Poker.

I have Windows 8 on my laptop, and it automatically updates MS Internet Explorer. Since the latest upgrade, I haven't been able to use blogspot properly and my blog reader isn't working either. I use Google Chrome on my desk top computer at home, so I decided to download it to the laptop, too, and now things seem to be working as usual. The new MS IE must have bugs, surprise.

I played in the Seniors Event #40 and qualified nicely for Day 2 with about 31,000 chips from a starting stack of 5,000. Late in the first day, I ran K-K into aces to lose 15,000 chips. Stuff happens, and I had to put it out of my mind.

Today, after we were in the money (423 out of an original field of 4193), I kept raising and being three-bet and having to give up my hand. On one, I made a modest raise with 8-8 and two players behind me went all in. I, of course, folded and saw Q-Q vs. A-K. There were a series of hands like that until I was short stacked. With about 10 big blinds, I shoved with A-10 and ran into A-J to finish 296th.

It was a nice run, but you always hope for more unless you win. I did see I finished higher than Ted Forest, Men the Master, and other notable players, so there's that.

You can see the results so far in the Senior Pairs if you click here.

Tomorrow is the Super Seniors for old codgers senior players who are at least 65 years old. This should be a good event for me, but in tournament poker, it's always a minefield. I'm hoping my hard work preparation will pay off, and will give it my best shot.

Tuesday, I'm returning home, unless I make Day 3 of the Super Seniors. I'm happy to play for a flight change if I'm in that position.

Above: The Poker Kitchen services thousands of poker players each day. I haven't eaten there yet.

Above: There are shuttle buses that run on the half hour. One takes you to Bally's/Paris Casinos, and the other to Harrah's -- both on the Strip.
