I finished 26th in the event today at the World Poker Open here in Tunica. Above is a photo of the shotclock just after I busted out.
It was a succesion of bad hands that were raised ahead of me. I had ♠A ♠6 in the small blind once, raised and the big blind moved all-in, oops. I lost with A-K to 5-5 for about half my stack.
My stack dribbled down until I had only 11 big blinds. A player bet 11K (the blinds were 5000/2500/500) with two callers to me in the big blind. I had ♥J ♦10, this player's favorite hand. I didn't have enough chips to have much fold equity, so only called. The flop was ♠K ♣Q ♦6, and I shoved. I was hoping no player had a king. If they did, then I had an open-ended straight draw as a backup plan.
Unfortunately, a player had K-Q for two pair. He called, and I failed to improve.

ReplyDeleteHmmm ... what blogger always says "You have to win the flips?"
Congrats on another good run. : o )
Min-cash or sharp stick... your choice.
ReplyDeleteYou're almost there. I have a feeling you will do well in the near future! Sending winning vibes your way!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the cash and a good run! When I was playing the ladies event, I saw that guy with the hat (in your earlier post)..really wanted to get a pic of him, glad you did! LOL
ReplyDeleteHang in there. The question is are you having fun?
ReplyDeleteLowell, oh he's having fun... and makin' some cash too. He writes with excitement so I can tell.
ReplyDeleteAre you still thinking about coming this way sometime?
ReplyDeleteThanks to all who commented.
ReplyDelete@Lowell: This winter I'm thinking about taking a trip to the Ocala, just for fun and to explore the area.
Well, you'd better look me up; better yet, let me know when you're coming and we'll make arrangements to have coffee or something!
ReplyDeleteWD again Mojo. A min cash does beat a stick in the eye, kick in the ass or no cash at all but it always leaves me wondering about what might have been.
