If it's Tuesday . . .

Above: I took a boat ride on the canals in Bruges, Belgium, today.

If It's Tuesday, This Must Be Belgium" was a 1969 comedy movie about a group who travel to nine countries in 18 days. During the whirlwind trip, things get so crazy that the only way the travelers know what country they're in is to check the day on their itinerary.

Well, today is Tuesday and I just spent it at Bruges, Belgium (also spelled Brugge). It's on the UNESCO World Heritage List because it's maintained a lot of its architecture from back in midieval times when it was a famous trading center.

I enjoyed the boat trip on the canals (that connect it with Ghent). I also enjoyed just walking the streets and taking in the feel of the place. Did you know that much of the city is one meter below sea level?

Brugges is about an hour and a half train ride, so our group came and went on the same day. You can see some of the things to do here.

Above: The Minnewater is also called the Lake of Love.

Above: The building to the right is the new city hall (I believe). Notice the houses on the left and the red tile roofs. This is very common.

  1. Superb photos, MOJO. But are you having a good time yet? ;) I'll bet you're having the time of your life. I know I would be!

Hey, if you think you're in Paris, wherever you are must be very special!

I'm still jealous. I mean Ocala is nice, but it ain't Paris!

  2. @Lowell: Thanks for the compliments. I was in Lille which is in northern France. Today (Wednesday) I traveled to Amsterday where I'll be for the next 5 and 1/2 days. You're right, I'm certainly enjoying myself.
