WSOP photo dump

Above: The Rio is the venue for the 2013 World Series of Poker. (Click on image to enlarge.)

I returned Wednesday to the Memphis area, and the WSOP is over for moi. It was fun, as always, but I've decided 14 days is too long. Last year I stayed 10 and that was a better number. More is not always better, or so they say.

I made enough in tournament cashes to pay for my entries and the room was free -- only expenses were my air fare and eating out.

Here are a few images to enjoy:

Above: The final tables were just like you see on TV. This was Event No. 30 won by Chris Dombrowski, the guy in the orange shirt. We live in an amazing world. I took the shot, then went back to my room and watched a live stream on my laptop. There, I knew more about what was going on than when I was present in person!

Above: There was lots of merchandise/souvenirs for sale. Above is an example.

Above: The Poker Kitchen offered a wide variety. There were nine places that prepared food to order and above are a few of them.

Above: Massages were popular. After long hours of poker, they are great stress-reducers.

Above: I stayed at Harrah's, so used the shuttle bus to get back and forth for free.

Images taken with my P&S.

  1. Did you wind up sitting in the stands for the final tables? What was that like?

    Good shots of the WSOP.

  2. Glad to see you made it home safely. Maybe it is time for me to make another road trip to Memphis and play in some of those Mississippi poker rooms.

  3. 14 days in Vegas? that is too long. After about 3 days in Vegas I need to leave town and take a long shower.

I did spend 6 weeks in Reno one time, but that was on business and we worked the whole time.

  4. Glad to hear you're back safe and sound. Did you only play tourneys in Vegas or did you play cash games as well?

  5. They have made a lot of improvements at the WSOP since I worked there in 05' (judging by your photos)... Congrats on the tourney cashed! #totallyexpected ;)

It looks like great fun and I really like the photo of Event 30.

  7. I think 14 days would be a bit too much for me, too, but 10 sounds about right. Glad you had fun and your cashes covered most expenses, that's fantastic! Great pics, I've read so much about the 'poker kitchen' and always wondered what it looked like.

  8. Thanks to all who left comments.

@PokerMeister: I just stood along one of the rails. It's hard to tell what is going on when in person. It looked like many of the spectators were friends of the various players.

@Neophyte: I played a ca$h game once and it was extremely soft. It was at Harrah's on the strip with mostly tourists in the game. It would not be crazy to go out there and play just cash, but I can do that here (Tunica) so it held less interest than tournaments.

@jusdealem: the poker kitchen is spread out to accommodate so many players and thus is hard to get a good image of. In retrospect, I wish I had taken a close up on one of the food places.
