Fall Poker Classic kicks off

Above are some of the 223 players who signed up for the poker tournament Day 1A Event at the Gold Strike Casino Tunica.

I played for more than six hours to be knocked out just before the diner break. From late position, I shoved with 9 5 (kids, don't try this at home) to try and pick up the blinds and antes. The big blind called with A-J. The flop was K-9-5, two pair! The turn was a queen and the river a 10, however, to give the villain a Broadway straight -- boo.

I'm going to try Day 1B tomorrow. If I advance to Sunday, then good, but if not, then I'll watch football. There are more events on the schedule.

I talked to Jusdealem. Her husband played in the same event I did -- not sure how he did. She entered the mega-satellite, and looked to be doing well when I exited.

EDIT: I found out later that Jusdealem won a seat into the Main Event. Congrats to her, that's awesome!

There was a Chris Moneymaker sighting. I outlasted him woot.

  2. Thanks for the shout out! I'm so excited to gave the opportunity to play my 1st main event! Russell busted after the dinner break, somewhere in the 50s. :( It was really strange to see Moneymaker all day slumming with us regular folk haha. He played everything, even the $100 nightly. I guess he just really likes to play, no matter the prize pool..that's pretty cool.
