A pilgrimage

I'm leaving for Las Vegas Wednesday and will stay for 11 days -- yes, I'm stoked. The dictionary defines a pilgrimage as a trip with moral or spiritual significance. Sounds about right for a hard-core poker player.

I will be returning to Memphis on Saturday, June 23. I plan to play in Event #29 on Friday, June 15. I might play a second WSOP event, it depends. I've also checked around and the Ventian, the Wynn, Caesars, Binion's and others are offering nice daily tournaments that I may have to check out. (Note: Why does Binion's have an apostrophe and Caesars does not?)

Besides poker, there may be degeneracy fun with bloggers. Lightning36 and Very Josie have trips that will overlap with the last part of mine. BWoP, Poker Grump, Wolynski, Grrouchie, Carmel, various poker dealers such as this one (and others) live in Vegas. I'm not sure who else is going. If you are and I didn't mention you, please leave a comment.

I've always wanted to go rafting in the Colorado River and may do that (see here). Las Vegas is a popular destination for bridge players and there is a Regional Tournament at the Riviera from June 18 to 24 (see here). I might spend one day playing bridge, who knows?

  2. I don't know if you've interacted much with Grrouchie, but he also lives in Las Vegas and will for sure be meeting up with Josie and Lightning36 when they are there.

  3. I get in at about noon on June 20. The Friday night (22nd) dinner plan (if it all comes together) is for dinner at the Rio with Shabazz Jenkins (who plans on being at the final table of one of the WSOP events!) and cmitch (doesn't get into town until late that afternoon). I hope to be running deep in the Golden Nugget tournament that is running that day. So ... we HOPE to all have dinner at Rio, but we'll just have to see what works out that night. Please join us!

Also, I am, of course, available for meals and other things at most any time while I am in town.

See you in Las Vegas. gl at the WSOP.

  6. MOJO, I'll be in town starting starting this Sunday (the 17th). I would love to get together with you, no matter how you wear your cap.

  8. Just noticed the WSOP event you'll be playing in. Seniors event huh? Guess I didn't know you were up in my age bracket! Too bad I won't be in town yet to play in that one, so I won't have to worry about those young Aggros with the hoodies, shades and earbuds 3-betting with 7-2 off.

    GL!!

  9. @bastin: thanks

@JT88keys: Thanks. I read his blog every day and overlooked a link for him -- it's corrected now.

@lightning: Looking forward to a meet-up. If not Friday night, then whenever.

@geezer: Thanks for a reply. I misunderstood what your comment meant. I thought you were saying withdrawals had to be 3000 or more. Online I play small stakes ($5 and $10 MTT).

@LuckiDuck: I was reviewing my links yesterday and was shocked to see that you weren't on it (I read your blog every day). Sorry about that.

@Rob: I retired last year. I'm past senior and into geezer territory. Love to meet you, too!

    @Josie: Can't wait to get a hug.

  10. @geezer: What I was trying to say is that at my small stakes, having a $3000-limit payout is not a problem.

  14. I always thought you were sort of a religious person and a pilgrimage proves it! Good luck! And if you go rafting, the thing is, try to stay in the raft! It gets drafty out of the raft. Wet, too!
