I was told the bestbet Jacksonville Casino (shown above) is a converted WalMart.

Saturday was a bust for me in the tournament at the bestbet Jacksonville Casino. A guy raised from middle position and I called with A-J. The flop was a jack and low cards. He bet, I raised and he called. By the river, we got it all in and he turned over a hand I couldn't put him on: J-8 off-suit. Yes, there was an 8 out there that came on the river.

I played the rest of the night in the Omaha-8 game. It was $4/8 with a half-kill. I play the same game in Tunica and it's always a loose one. Each player is dealt four cards and they just have to see a flop. With most flops, they have something and don't want to give it up. The Jacksonville game was the same or looser. Eight players seeing a flop was common.

After one deal was over, one man was trying to make a low hand, but he had a loser. Fortunately for him, he turned all four cards over and had a flush that he hadn't noticed -- it was a winner. On another deal, a man did the same thing and accidentally had a full house he hadn't noticed.

The tournament tables sat 10 players and did not have automatic shufflers. The ca$h tables sat only nine, and did have shufflers (which speeds up the game, obviously). The room had 70 tables and there were 45 in play. The joint was jumpin'.

  1. It looks like a Walmart.

Hopefully you made some $ in the Omaha game.

  2. Too bad it wasn't a K-Mart. You might have hit the Blue Light Special.

  3. How can one have a full house and not notice? :-)

Glad to see that a Walmart has finally been converted into something useful!

  4. Gotta love idiots with 2pr on the riv, valuing essentially all in in prior action. There's lots of those players here - calling all the way down to the river with 2nd or 3rd pair only to get lucky by the riv with their 8 3 two pair... God bless.

  5. It really stings to get it in good vs a ridiculous hand only to be rivered. GG Mojo. That O8 game sounds crazy!

  6. Greetings again, Mr. Smith! You were partly right in your comment today. I've done business with Jenkins for 8 years. I bought a 2008 Acura RL (traded in a 2003 TL) a couple of years ago and thIS particular day I was trading in the Acura for a 2012 Hyundai Santa Fe (which was mint) that they had just taken in on trade. They've had some, well, less that competent people in their employees along the way, but overall it's been a good experience.

  7. PS..I think the table psychologist's prices are very reasonable. With my recent bad beats, I would totally book a session with him! lol

  9. Dave, will you send me an email to yanson2@aol.com? I don't think I have your email address and would like to discuss further those plans you mentioned. Thanx!

The very definition of bad poker players.
