Above: The Rio Casino in Las Vegas is the venue for the World Series of Poker.
There are 32 players left from the original field of 4425 runners in the Seniors Event at the WSOP. I'm still alive but with only 14 big blinds, and in 25th place. That's okay, I'm used to being a short-stack ninja. Don't count me out yet.
We begin play again tomorrow at 11 (Vegas time). When we get down to the final table, it will be live streaming. Now that would be cool.
I want to thank all my friends who have supported me with texts, tweets and re-tweets, and comments here on my web site. They make me feel good, and, no doubt, play better.
You can find updates here. Having a name like David Smith, it's not unusual for me to mixed up with another of the same name. I asked the media to straighten out that they have me listed as being from California instead of Walls, MS. Maybe they can handle it, but maybe not.
Above: I love taking a shot of chips in a bag -- it means I've advanced to another day.
Above: I scoped out where the payout section is. If I bust out on the very next hand, I'll still take home $15,730.

That's awesome, MOJO, congratulations. I wish I was in Vegas to rail in person.
ReplyDeleteLooking at the WSOP site, you're in for a nice payday no matter what happens from here.
But you know, you might as well just win the damn thing and take the max cash and the bracelet too.
Good luck! Go go go!
Yeah, I saw walnut creek too. Just figure you were picking up a second winter home for variety's sake. What with the way you've been running of late.
ReplyDeleteI saw all those Smith names and you down near the end. Guess you taught those suckers how you sneak around with out attention until you spring. I see there are 31 ahead of you that aren't aware how sneaky you are either and are ready to fall to the Mojo.
I understand that today will be on the ESPN table as so we'll be seeing players and cards. There are some names still there. I've thought Dan Heimiller and interesting guy but its been so long since I've been around poker that I can't recall why. :)
I followed it off an on yesterday. The Poker News coverage sucked. Hokey and incomplete to an embarrassing degree. They did manage to show some silly hands right after the bubble where folks got giddy. I watched the blind and what we knew of your stack and you managed to wander through the poker mine field with aplomb. Now! take the plumb.

It is obvious I need an editor. You know of a good one?
ReplyDeletePoker News had you 32nd in chip count. But the WSOP shows you 25th. Like I said about em at Poker News. Maybe today they'll cover it right with the ESPN coverage there.
So, I'll be watching the 30 min delay for the ESPN coverage today.
I see David Tran is at your table.
Dang, but this has been fun to follow. I am not surprised as we all know you have ramped up your tournament play over the past few years. In my mind, the question is ... why not you? I know you have the skill, so I always wish you the luck that you know is needed to win one of these things. Good luck today, Dave!
ReplyDeleteWay to go! Keep grinding!
ReplyDeleteThat answered my Walnut Creek question in this morning's tweet... :) Enjoyed railing you on Twitter and the WSOP site yesterday - have a great day today Mojo! :D
ReplyDeleteYeah I wondered about the Walnut Creek too. Keep going and maybe you will be able to get a 2nd and 3rd vacation home.
ReplyDeleteI was chatting Ken Prevo on Yahoo, he sent me the info that you were playing under an alias, etc., not of your choice but the reporters. I sent an email to Donnie Peters, PNs editor. Maybe it will help straighten it out.
ReplyDeleteGood luck, would love to see you win it!
Awesome playing MOJO! It's exciting to see a fellow blogger doing well!
ReplyDeleteFollowing along through Poker News. What a come back. WTG Mojo.
ReplyDeleteExciting following your ups and downs. Hoping for many more ups to come. Go MOJO.
ReplyDeleteGreat job, watching the live stream now .... Go MOJO !!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTake it down Dave! Good luck from the Wall Street Poker crew.
